Our Travel Adventure Back Home!

Our flight home wasn't until the early afternoon, so we got to sleep in.  Thankfully, we had some extra sleep under our belt because our travels home were quite a tiring experience. Our amazing tour guide Sandra accompanied us to the airport to see us off. Her flight home to London wasn't until the evening, but she had to make sure we all go checked in before we said our good-byes.
Our final picture in France. Good-bye France!
We all got checked in just fine, but found out that our flight would be delayed by 2 hours. Not the best of news because this time we didn't have a direct flight, we were flying into to JFK to catch our connecting flight home. So, we had lunch, exchanged and uploaded pictures and just waited and waited to board our flight.
We finally boarded the plane and they got the flight underway. Since it was an afternoon flight Trent had no interest, of course, in taking a little nap. We watched movie after movie and just counted down the hours until we landed in JFK. While in the air there was a passenger that had a medical emergency, so the paramedics had to clear this passenger before we were let off. We were all stressing because we only had 45 minutes to make our connecting flight. We still had to go through immigration and get and check our luggage. There was little hope that we were going to make our flight.
When we got off the flight we were told that we could get an expedited connecting flight pass that would put us in front of the line at immigration. We did get the pass, but their were no Delta agents to actually help us move into the front of the line. We just had to be like the pushy French people (they taught us well) and push and push until we go through the line. We did get through, got our luggage rather quickly and ran to check our luggage in. When we got to the check-in the agent told us that the flight was already closed and they wouldn't take our luggage, but we had just been told by another agent that we would make our flight. Tim and Jeff convinced the agent that we were a group of 11 and they would hold the flight for us...so we thought. The agent let us check our luggage and we hurried as fast as the agents would let us get through security and then ran to our gate.  Thankfully, Jeff and Zach ran as fast as they possibly could with their carry-on luggage and made it to the gate to let the agents know that we were all on our way and expected to board the flight. The agents had already started giving our seats away and when we go there they were still boarding the plane and we had at least ten minutes to spare. So much for thinking they would hold the flight for us.
We all got on the flight, a bit sweaty, but we made it and that's what mattered. Now, we had five more hours of travel time. Trent I am pretty sure was sleeping before we took off. He was finally tired enough not to argue and just go to sleep. He slept the entire flight, which was great, but his arms and legs were all over the place. Oh well at least he was sleeping. We finally landed in LAX around 10:30 p.m. and the best part was we just had to get our luggage, we didn't have to clear immigration. All of our luggage made it to LAX, which was amazing. We said our tired good-byes and headed home.
Even though it was close to midnight we stopped at In-N-Out on the way home. In-N-Out had never tasted so good.
What a wonderful two weeks we had. There were some ups and downs, but mostly ups. This was a trip of a lifetime and we are so thankful to Tim's parents for taking us along on this amazing trip.
Jeff made us all luggage tags.
Some memorable pictures that didn't make my prior posts.
Seeing the Eiffel Tower up close was amazing.
Disneyland Paris Pirates ride. Love the kissing couple in the front.
An amazing experience learning about the battle of Normandy.
Trent enjoying a Coke whenever he could.
Tim and I relaxing in our hotel room in Tours watching the Tour de France.
