Another holiday weekend spent in Oxnard.

We made our way to Oxnard last weekend.  Tim rode his bike out to Oxnard and Trent, Freddy and I took the easier way out there and drove.  We were looking forward to escaping the heat and relaxing in Oxnard.
Surprisingly, Tim beat us out there.  Unlike last time when Tim rode out to Oxnard, he didn't quite make it because he got a bit lost.  This time he stayed on the right route and had a good ride.
It was nice to be out in Oxnard.  Yes, the weather was much cooler and we were ready to get the holiday weekend started. We enjoyed the rest of Saturday with shopping, relaxing and enjoying good food and company.
Sunday morning, my parents headed up to join us for the day.  We were looking forward to taking them on a ride on the duffy boat around the harbor and showing them around the town.

 My parents.
 A few seals playing around.
After touring around the harbor, we had lunch and then relaxed poolside.  Before my parents headed home Fiona wanted to take a ride on the Harley.
Fiona ready to go.
 And off they go...
Fiona enjoyed the ride on the Harley.
My parents wanted to hit the road before it got dark.
I am so glad my parents came up to Oxnard.  It was fun to show them around and spend time with them.
Usually on the last day of the stay we like to get home by early afternoon.  This time we enjoyed the day kayaking and relaxing poolside. The weather was gorgeous and going home to a hot house wasn't appealing.
Kayaking around the harbor is always a must in Oxnard.
Trent being the photographer...not too bad.
Having fun playing in the pool.  I think the kids were in the pool for 4 hours...good times!
 Tim enjoying some down time.
We had a great time on Monday.  We had an impromptu bbq by the pool.  It was perfect, we ate lunch and then went right back to relaxing by the pool.  The theme of weekend was to relax and I felt that was accomplished...by me at least.

2nd Grade!!

Trent finally started school on Wednesday.  It was bittersweet for me.  I was happy for him to start 2nd grade and to see all his friends, but I had enjoyed spending so much time with him this Summer and I knew I would miss him while he was at school.  On the first day of school, Trent was up early and was a bit nervous to go to school.  I think it was a nervous excitement.  He seemed just fine when we got into his classroom.  He let me take a few pictures, gave me a hug and we said our goodbyes.

2:45 p.m. came at last and I picked my boy up from school.  He said he had a good day and really likes his teacher.  He really likes that she has a big teddy  bear named Cuddles.  Trent loves him some stuffed animals. We are looking forward to a great 2nd grade school year.

Summer is almost over.

Week 12: This is our last full week of summer break before school starts. It has been a long summer, but I am so glad I was able to spend so much time with Trent and we did a lot of fun things.  This week he still had to come with me to work a few days, but he didn't mind as long as he had a movie to watch.
On Monday, we went to work for a few hours and then Trent had a dentist appointment. He had a sealant put on his back four molars. The whole procedure took about 40 minutes and I was so proud of how well he did. It wasn't until the last tooth that I could tell he was barely holding the tears back because he was just done being still and having his mouth pried open. I treated Trent to a yummy lunch at one of our favorite burger places and he was thrilled.
Tuesday was a fun day.  We took Trent's two cousins Jake and Justin out to lunch and then went bowling.  I have to be the world's worse bowler.  All three boys beat me.  Trent calls me the "Gutter Queen" and I can't dispute it.  Oh well, at least I had fun.
In the evening, we went to the Dodger game.  The Dodgers had a few exciting plays...Ethier hit a grand slam, not too bad.  If the Dodgers didn't have Ethier or Kemp they would be in worse shape than they already are.
Trent cheering on the Dodgers.
Then he turns nutty!
On Wednesday, we headed to the Dodger game again, this time it was a day game.  It was so hot and our seats are in the sun, so we basically just had lunch and watched a few innings.
Also on Wednesday, Trent had his first soccer practice of the season.  We are looking forward to a fun and exciting soccer season.
Thursday, we just did the usual...went to work.  Trent has been such a good boy at work. I am thankfully that I can take him to work and thankful that he is content with watching a movie or playing his DS.  I am though pretty sure that he is looking forward to going back to school next week.  He misses his friends.
On Friday, we had some errands to run in the morning and then I dropped Trent off at a playdate and I headed to Costco.  On the way to the playdate Trent said aren't you going to have fun being by yourself.  I said, no, I will miss you and I am going to go to Costco.  He let out a big sigh and said thank you for going without me and if you have to go to Kohl's too you should go while I am at my playdate.  Yep, I am pretty sure he is done with going to work with me and running errands.  Yay, for school starting next week!
We are heading out to Oxnard for the long holiday weekend. I am looking forward to the cooler weather and hopefully relaxing a bit.

7 years old!

Oh my goodness!!  I can't believe my baby is 7 years old.  I say this often, but life is going by too fast.  Trent turning 7 years old is hitting me hard and I don't know why.  Maybe it's because I turned 35 years old the following day, which means I am in my mid-30's, but whatever it is I feel like life is passing me by way too quickly.  I remind myself often that I need to enjoy the little moments in each day because in an instance the moment passes and time keeps moving on whether you like it or not.
My sweet baby just hours old.
To celebrate Trent's 7th birthday we had a bowling party with family and friends. Trent loves to bowl, so having the party at the bowling alley was perfect...or right up his alley.  I had to say that!
To start Trent's day off right we gave him his presents and I decorated his playroom with Pokeman decorations. He was so excited to see the decorations and wants to keep them up until Tim's birthday in November...I don't think so.
Good Morning Birthday Boy!
 Daddy and his boy!
Some pjs, DS games, DS games case and some cool books.
 Pokeman decorations.
 Love Trent's excitement!

Trent loves reading reference books...100 Most Dangerous Things on the Planet!  Scary!
We went to work in the morning, had In-n-Out for lunch and then saw the Smurfs movie, which was cute.  We did all this before 2:00 p.m. and we still had Trent's party to have fun at.
Trent had his Pokeman shirt on and was ready for his party.
 So excited!

After some pizza the kids bowled some more and then it was cake time.
 Happy Birthday to Trent!
The cake was delicious. Trent picked out the perfect chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. After cake the kids bowled for a bit more, we passed out the party bags and then we opened presents with the family.
