Terra...10 months

Only 2 more months until our little girl is 1 year old...oh my! She continues to always be on the move and just keeps getting faster. She has graduated from the wounded solider crawl to crawling on her knees. She started crawling on her knees after being at jump n' jammin' and seeing a little boy crawl around on his knees...or maybe it was just a coincidence, but I am going with monkey see monkey do.

We have been introducing Terra to more table type food. She loved the broccoli and got mad when we took the stem away from her because she could have choked.  Silly girl.

Since I thought it was a fluke that Terra liked broccoli, I had to try it again and to my surprise she ate a few bites. Maybe we will have a child who likes veggies...only time will tell.

It doesn't matter what toys of Terra's I have out, she always goes for Trent's toys. Trent is usually a good sport about it, unless it's his iPad.

Not only is Terra on the move crawling around everywhere, Terra is really starting to cruise around tables, standing up, sitting down, taking a step from the coffee table to the couch and just all around testing out her legs.

She has grown so much over the last month. I feel it was just the other day that she barely could see over the table. By the way, this outfit is one of my favorites.

She is really teething. Everything and I mean everything goes in her mouth and she goes to town chewing on it.

 Even though I set up barriers, she eventually makes her way to Trent's books.

 And here the books come off the shelf and then into the mouth.

I can feel the Fall weather right around the corner. The mornings have been chillier and I wanted to get these adorable boots on Terra before they got too small.  She rocked these cute boots, I wish they made them in my size.

Can't wait to see what the next month brings...maybe walking.

Trent

This summer was definitely a much different one for Trent.  For almost 9 years Trent has had my undivided attention and we have done so many fun things. Well, this summer we weren't able to do as many fun things on a whim. Our days we mostly centered around Terra and her naps. Trent went to summer camp in the morning, which he enjoyed. Most afternoons Trent had swim practice, but the hours in between Trent kept up with his math, grammar and reading. He was so good when Terra was napping and was always quiet and respectful of her need of sleep. As Tim has told him when Mama ain't happy, no one is happy...and that seems to carry over to Terra. When Terra is in a good mood everything goes so much better.

There were just a few things that Trent really wanted to do this summer and I was determined to make them happen...Disneyland and Chuck E Cheese. As for Disneyland we had to wait until our annual passes weren't blocked out, which happened to be towards the end of Summer. We did make it to Disneyland, which I wrote a post about. And as for Chuck E Cheese, we made it there too. We took Jake and Justin along with us and had a great time.

I love Trent so much, but these past three months my love for him has grown so much more. I see how much he loves Terra, he always helps me out when I ask him. Don't get me wrong there are times when I am at my wits end with him, but at the end of the day he has helped me out with Terra in one way or another. I am so thankful for him.

I hope Trent looks back at this summer and doesn't think it was a bummer, but the summer he spent playing with his baby sister Terra. I love you Trent!

A Big 4th Grader

On Wednesday, September 4th Trent started 4th grade. He was a bit nervous the night before, but was looking forward to starting 4th grade. His friend Jonah was coming back to school after being home-schooled for 3rd grade, so Trent was definitely looking forward to having Jonah at school. Even as a big 4th grader he still wanted his Mama to walk him to class. It was only about 85 degrees at 7:45 in the morning, so getting Terra out of the car and into her stroller wasn't so pleasant in the heat.  And then I had to get Terra out of her stroller and walk up the stairs to Trent's class...by this time I was dripping in sweat...awesome!  In the moment I was a hot mess, but I am so glad I walked Trent to class because he still needs his Mama, he may not as a 5th grader.

Hot weather, Fried food, Fun rides...LA County Fair

Where would you go when it's 100 degrees out? How about the LA County Fair. That's where we headed on what felt like the hottest day ever. The black top of the Pomona Fairgrounds only added to the million degrees it felt. Last year, Trent and I went with some friends to the OC Fair and Trent absolutely loved the fair. What he loves most are the rides and crazy fun houses. On Groupon they had a deal for discounted tickets, which I took advantage of. So, again what felt like the hottest day ever we headed to the fair. Trent was so excited to be going and could not wait to go on the rides.

We got there around 2:00 p.m. and they were having a deal from 4-7 p.m. that the rides would be half off, so Trent would have to wait awhile before having fun. He wasn't too thrilled about this and quite often reminded us. We walked around checking out all the infomerical type booths, but really we were just trying to stay out of the heat. The time finally came when it was time to buy tickets for the rides, but before that Trent found the face painting booth.

Terra was so good in the heat. She was content staying in her stroller and cruising around people watching.

Fairs are known for their food, especially fried food. In the past years it seems that vendors fry any kind of food you can think of. Of course, we are all about fried food, so we were excited to start eating.

While Tim and Trent walked around the National Forest exhibits, Terra took a much needed nap.

Even though it was hot, we had a great day. Tim and I took turns going on the water log ride with Trent, which was so much fun. Trent got his wish and was able to go on more than enough rides and fun houses. Can't wait to go again next year, hopefully we go on a cooler day.

I love these two kids and I love how much they love each other. Trent loves Terra so much and you can see it in his eyes. As for Terra, she loves Trent so much too.  When she hears his voice or sees him her eyes light up. They are my everything!

Another enjoyable day on the pontoon boat

The Sunday of Labor Day weekend we joined Todd, Ashley and Jake for a day of relaxing on the pontoon boat. We got to Castaic Lake around 10:00 a.m. and there were already a lot of boats on the water. We launched the boat quickly, Tim parked the truck and we headed to a cove where we could drop anchor and enjoy the day. We found a good spot and as soon as Jake and Trent could get in the water they did. They must have played in the water for at least 4 hours only coming out to eat lunch. Terra played in the water for awhile, took 2 naps, ate and ate, crawled around the boat and I think had a pretty good time.

Ashley and me trying out the new raft. It was so much faster than the inter tube. Half of my body was hanging off, which was such a weird feeling. I could not stop laughing during the ride...I think because I was so scared because we were going so fast.
