The Weather is Always Better in Oxnard

We spent the weekend in Oxnard with Tim's co-worker Tracey and her family. We went out to Oxnard because another of Tim's co-worker's was having a beach party at her beach house. When we got to the beach on Saturday afternoon it was overcast and, of course, windy. Tracey and Paul have an 8 year old daughter Petra who is just the sweetest girl. They were already at the beach party, so we gathered up our beach stuff and headed down to the water. Petra and Trent wasted no time getting down to the water and testing it out, even though it was overcast and windy. The water was rough, so they played in the sand and did play in the water when the sun finally came out. When it was finally time to head to the house in Oxnard we had to drag the kids out of the water. I loved that Petra and Trent played for hours on the beach and in the water. Petra even taught Trent how to bodysurf...so cute! Oh and Terra enjoyed the beach too...and eating the sand.
Once Petra and Trent got most of the sand off their bodies and a sand crab was hiding hopefully in Trent's shirt made it down the drain we headed to dinner. Fisherman's Catch is always a must when we are in Oxnard, so we headed over there. Trent and I don't eat fish, so we got sandwiches at Jersey Mike's and then joined the others for dinner. After dinner we got frozen yogurt and then ended the night with a round of Catch Phrase (another must). It was the Reimers' vs. the Pender's...we lost, but that's ok.
On Sunday, Tim and Trent took the Pender's out kayaking around the island. The sun was out and the water was calm, so it was perfect kayaking weather.

Petra and Trent ready to kayak.
And they are off...
After kayaking we had lunch at the sushi restaurant and then headed home.  I think as soon as we made the right turn out of the complex the temperature didn't stop going up until we got home where it was in the low 90's...yuck!
