Our Adventures in France...Day 5

On Day 5 we were touring more chateaus. Our first chateau was in Chenonceaux. This was my favorite chateau by far.
The walk to the chateau was so pretty.
 A walk through the gardens.
My favorite view of the Chateau of Chenonceau.
The chateau was built on a site of an old mill in the 11th century.
The Guard's Room, where armed men would come to rest their feet.

Diane de Poitiers' room who was the mistress of Henry II.

The Five Queens Bedroom

Catherine de' Medici's bedroom

A very interesting all black bedroom. Following the assassination of her husband King Henry III by the monk Jacques Clement on August 1, 1589, Louise of Lorraine retired to Chenonceau in meditation and prayer. She always dressed in white in compliance with the etiquette of royal mourning, she was known as "the White Queen."
This room was created in memory of the visit Louis XIV made to Chenonceau on July 14, 1650.

From Chenonceaux we traveled to Amboise to have lunch and visit the Chateau of Amboise. We had a yummy lunch at a street side cafe.
 Streets of Amboise.
 Walking up to the chateau.
 Trent and his sword.
Chateau of Amboise built along the River Loire.
Confiscated by the monarchy in the 15th century, it became a favored royal residence and was extensively rebuilt. King Charles VIII died at the château in 1498 after hitting his head on a door jam.
Beautiful views from the top of the chateau.
The chapel of Saint-Hubert where Leonardo da Vinci is buried.
Looking down on the town from the chateau.
Tim, Zach and Trent were excited to put their feet in the Loire River...
a highlight for Tim.

Trent was ready to head back to the hotel and go swimming.
Enjoying some down time in the pool.
We ended another fun day with pizza in John and Cindy's room. Zach, Trent and Madison put on a dancing show for us. Trent learned how to shuffle and would improve his shuffling skills during the course of the trip.
